and then you walk across the the street. slowly, carefully, with a consistent speed, even though you want to run. Look at both sides, because many bicycles, some scooters and a few cars might be coming at the wrong side of the road, or the wrong direction in a one way. If the light is green for you, be careful, traffic lights are optional! You have to be bold, the moment you hesitate you are a loser.
You actually just walk across, trying to have eyes that can look in all directions, like a praying mantis, and yes, pray at the same time. I must say, it gets better.
Sometimes crossing in the middle of a street is safer, because you do not have to concentrate on cars coming around all corners, driving directly at you... So forget everything you have learned at your mother's knee... You can pat yourself on the back once you have made it. But of course, you now have to cross the next one! The sidewalks are not for walking. It is for parking scooters, cars, having restaurant tables etc. So you walk in the street, taking that life in your own hands again!
A dog restaurant... The pictures show the different ones you can order to eat, and then they are kept in cages next door. 7 Tonnes of live dogs are shipped into the nation's capital Hanoi every day.
